The “GSPD-1M” head for submerged arc welding is designed for welding longitudinal and circumferential seams with a non-consumable submerged electrode of stainless steels, titanium and aluminum alloys with a continuously burning DC arc in argon, helium or a mixture.

New solutions for the GSPD-1M head
- strengthening of the “GSPD-1” head fastening unit on the installation console;
- strengthening of the safety bars holding the copying support balls;
- new gas and cooling systems;
- control of helium consumption;
- equipping the drives for vertical movement of the electrode and horizontal movement of the console (welding speed) with position feedback photosensors;
- software implementation of welding process control algorithms in RT (current regulator) and RD (voltage regulator) modes;
- a modern control system that ensures reliable protection of the tungsten electrode with a toroidal working part from the molten metal of the bath during immersion (the use of such an electrode makes it possible to eliminate tungsten inclusions in the welds and reduce the weld shape factor (Kf = V/N = 0.5-0.6) and energy costs);
- preparation of a control program with any number of welding program frames.
